A BOOK of condolence for the public to pay their respects to victims of the Essex lorry tragedy will be opened tomorrow.

It will situated in the reception of the Wirral Multicultural Centre in Conway Street, Birkenhead.

Thirty nine people – 31 men and eight women – were found dead in a refrigerated container last Wednesday on an industrial estate in Grays, Essex.

Investigations to establish the identity of those who lost their lives are ongoing, but it is believed the majority were Vietnamese citizens.

Wirral residents are invited to sign the Book of Condolence from tomorrow.

Senior figures from Wirral Council, including the Mayor, Cllr Tony Smith, chief executive Paul Satoor and leaders of all political groups, as well as patrons of Wirral Multicultural Organisation, will be invited to add their signatures to the book.
