ONE of Warrington's most unique pubs which was ravaged by fire in March could be set for a makeover.

Plans have been approved to revamp the Fiddle I'Th Bag pub on Alder Lane in Burtonwood.

The proposal will remove the existing flat roof extension, allow for a new pitched roof orangery extension to the left hand side.

A new flat roof extension to the back will be added with a large patio area created to the front with metal fencing surround and a small patio area to the left hand side from the new orangery.

Planning documents submitted to Warrington Borough Council state: "The proposed works are extending the size of the existing building, increasing the rear of the property for services and the side to be customer use.

"The proposal will be sympathetic to the existing site as the new side extension elevation will have a pitched roof to match the existing style.

"Increasing the size of the site will allow for a more viable business."

Warrington Guardian:
