A BABY fawn from an endangered species has been born at Knowsley Safari Park.
The Prescot venue welcomed the arrival of an Eld’s Deer fawn – pictured here at just a few hours old - as it supports conservation efforts for a species that has seen wild populations decline by more than 50 per cent in the last 15 years.
There are currently less than 700 of these deer in existence, due to loss of habitat and hunting, so this latest arrival is very welcome news.
Alongside the charity Wildlife Alliance, Knowsley Safari Park are actively working in Cambodia to create a healthy captive population of Eld’s deer that may one day be suitable for release into the wild.
