RESIDENTS fear a proposed 24/7 warehouse would create a ‘noise nuisance’.

Powerhouse Propco II S.A.R.L wants to build a new warehouse with office space and parking at Appleton Thorn trading estate, on Lyncastle Road.

The application will come before the development management committee on Wednesday and is recommended for approval, subject to conditions and a section 106 agreement.

Planning documents say the applicant is proposing to provide parking for 43 cars and eight lorries.

Council officers believe the development would provide an acceptable level of parking provision and will not have an ‘unacceptable impact’ on the highway network.

The site is proposed to be 4,688 square metres but two objections have been received from residents.

They say the 24/7 site would result in significant light pollution and noise nuisance.

The submitted transport assessment has been reviewed with the conclusion that the impact of trips generated by the development is acceptable but requires mitigation via a sustainable transport contribution.

Planning officers believe noise mitigation measures, including three-metre high acoustic fencing, would prevent ‘serious harm to living conditions’.

In a statement, they added: “The agreed noise mitigation measures would also prevent an unacceptable impact on the adjacent Appleton Thorn.

“The new building itself would be noise attenuated, to be secured by condition, so that noise from inside the building would not result in harm to residential amenity either.”
