STUDENTS who require additional support at Birchwood Community High School have accepted laptop donations from kind-hearted businesses.

The Willows department at the school will use the laptops for a small number of learners with additional needs and requirements who need an alternative space to the traditional classroom.

Scott Robertson and Stephen Barnard from WS Transportation, Runcorn, and Jimmy Bannister from Concise Technologies, Northwich, visited the school to present the department with five top-of-the-range laptops to aid the pupils' studies.

A member of school staff, whose husband works at WS Transportation, put a bid forward to his company and they approached their IT supplier, Concise Technologies, to ask if they would like to be involved.

John Burnham, deputy head teacher at the school, added: "On behalf of our learners in the Willows, I would like to say a huge thank you to WS Transportation and Concise Technologies.

"These state of the art laptops will be an invaluable resource for our learners and thanks must go to Mrs Downing’s husband for putting the bid forward."

Stephen Barnard, of WS Transportation said: "All of us at WS Transportation hope that the new computers go a long way to help support the Willows in the great work they do in helping hard to reach children in mainstream education.

"We would also like to put on record our huge thanks to Concise Technologies for jumping on board and helping to supply this vital equipment."
