POLICE rescued a woman near to a railway bridge in Hood Manor this morning.
Officers were called to Burtonwood Road, near to the new Warrington West station, at around 6.15am today, Tuesday.
Paramedics also attended the incident after concerns were raised over the safety of a woman.
She has since been ‘taken to a place of safety’.
A British Transport Police spokesman said: “At 6.14am today, officers were called to the railway close to Warrington, following a concern for the welfare of a woman in a precarious position.
“Officers attended alongside paramedics, and the woman was removed from harm’s way and has since been taken to a place of safety.”
Burtonwood Road was closed for a period of time as the emergency services dealt with the incident.
Several trains between Warrington Central and Liverpool Lime Street were cancelled or delayed by up to an hour this morning as a result.
But rail services have since returned to normal.
