RESIDENTS have been warned to expect flooding in parts of Warrington.

A flood alert is in place for the Mersey Estuary at Arpley Bridge, with the high tide expected to be ‘higher than usual’.

As a result, flooding of low-lying land, roads and farmland is expected between 2.30pm and 3pm tomorrow, Tuesday.

And the Environment Agency believes there is a possibility of flooding for parts of Chester Road.

It has also issued a warning for the Mersey Estuary at Fiddlers Ferry following forecasts of heavy rainfall.

The agency says there is a possibility of flooding in the area between 2am and 2.30am tomorrow.

Staff are monitoring weather forecasts and river levels and will issue further flood warnings, if necessary.

Residents on Clifton Street in Latchford, off Knutsford Road, received ‘flood warning’ messages from the agency earlier today.

However, it has been confirmed that warnings for the Mersey Estuary at Knutsford Road and Victoria Park have now been removed.

A spokeswoman for the agency said it is not expecting the defences in the area to be ‘breached’.

She added it has been forecasting ‘based on the weather situation across the country’.
