POLICE have released CCTV footage of a man wanted in connection with two armed robberies in Birchwood.

Both ‘terrifying’ incidents – in which a bus driver and a convenience store were targeted – occurred over the weekend of September 21 to 22.

The first occurred at around 10.30pm on Saturday, September 21, when a man flagged down a bus drive on Chatfield Drive.

He got onto the bus and threatened the 61-year-old driver with a kitchen knife and demanded that he hand over all of the takings.

After stealing the cash, he got off the bus and ran away from the scene – opposite the junction with Ramsay Close.

The following day at around 2.30pm, the Nisa store on Glover Road was also robbed.

A man threatened a female member of staff with a knife and again demanded all the takings from the till be handed over - with a young boy present at the time of the attack.

He fled the store with a quantity of cash, and detectives believe the two incidents to be linked.

Detective constable Rob Thorpe said: “These were both terrifying incidents for all those involved.

“We believe that the same man carried out the robberies and I want to reassure the community that we are doing all we can to establish his identity and bring him to justice.

Warrington Guardian:

“Enquiries are ongoing and as part of the investigation we want to speak to the man in the CCTV image as we believe he may have important information to help the investigation.

“If you think you recognise him or know who he is please call the team here at Warrington Police Station.”

“I would also like to appeal directly to the man in the CCTV images to get in touch.”
