A BUSINESS owner is calling for action following a crash at an accident blackspot.

The junction of Boundary Road with Kirkland Street and Lingholme Road has been the scene of several traffic collisions, with residents calling for action over the junction.

Last Tuesday (September 17) saw emergency services called to the area after a crash between two cars in which a woman sustained minor injuries.

The crash was the latest in the area which has become known as a blackspot.

In May last year a vehicle ended up on its side following a collision and in September 2016 there was a crash at the junction between two police cars who were responding to emergencies.

Colin Campbell, who runs fireplace showroom Instyle Living located next the junction, has called for speed cameras to be installed saying he feels like it is a matter of time for a serious accident to take place.

Colin described the junction as "like Russian Roulette" due to the amount of vehicles running the red light.

He said: "It really needs action before death is the only answer for progress.

"The council can't continue to do what they're doing which is fixing the lights. If we can try and get the council to put speed cameras so people aren't going to take that chance.

"Someone is going to come through this wall. I'd like to see cameras there. you've got a wall on one side where Ellison's coaches is and a wall on the other and the light jumpers are going to get it.

"You are just taking a chance with people's lives.

"The community are voicing their concerns regarding this junction."
