SAINTS have five players included in the 2019 Super League Dream team - but there are some high-profile omissions.

After winning the League Leaders Shield by a record 16-point margin a heavy Saints representation was to be expected to reflect their dominance of the competition.

Full back Lachlan Coote, who has enjoyed an outstanding first year in the red vee, fills the space in the team won last year by Ben Barba.

Golden Boot Tommy Makinson was a shoe-in for number 2 for the third time after leading the try scoring charts - wrapping up the regular season with a hat-trick at Hull has FC.

St Helens Star:

His centre partner Kevin Naiqama is rewarded for his service on that right edge.

In the pack, Luke Thompson is rewarded for his strong running with his second Dream Team selection, while Morgan Knowles nails down the 13 shirt after an outstanding season.

However, there will be eyebrows raised at the omission of Jonny Lomax - winner of this year's Albert Goldthorpe medal.

St Helens Star:

Lomax has had an outstanding season, with his creative play, combination with Coote, and his try assists being one of the keys to Saints storming the league this year.

Lomax has not been on the losing side in Super League this year.

Up front Alex Walmsley has bounced back from his broken neck injury with a vengeance - and is also a baffling omission, while Zeb Taia, who was in the form of his life before dislocating his shoulder, is overlooked in place of ex-Saint Josh Jones.

Skipper James Roby also misses out this time despite leading the team to a record 16-point lead.
