SAINTS’ 22-6 win over Hull FC means that they finish the regular season a record 16 points clear of Wigan, the team in second place.
They will now have next week off as a reward for finishing top, taking a close watch of Friday’s Wigan v Salford play-off tie.
Saints will play the winners of that game in a semi on Friday, September 27 for a place at Old Trafford.
The losers have a second bite.
Next Thursday Warrington will entertain Castleford in a sudden death eliminator.
The winners of that game will play the losers of the Wigan v Salford game the following week in another eliminator.
And the winners of that game will play the losers of the Saints v Salford/Wigan semi final for the second place in the Grand Final.

Game 1: Eliminator: Thursday 19 September, Warrington v Castleford. Loser out.
Game 2: Friday, 20 September, Wigan v Salford.
Game 3:Eliminator: Thu 26 September, (Wigan v Salford loser) v (Warrrington v Castleford winner). Loser out.
Game 4: Friday, 27 September, St Helens v (Wigan v Salford winner). Winner to Old Trafford, loser second bite.
Game 5: Semi-final: Friday, 4 October, (Game 4 loser v Game 3 winner). Winner to Old Trafford, loser out.
Game 6: Grand Final: Saturday, 12 October (Winner of Game 4 v winner Game 5).
