A WOMAN has been fined after dumping 15 bin bags full of rubbish at a youth centre.
The huge amount of waste was dumped at Orford Youth Base in February.
Warrington Borough Council’s enquiries found that the waste had been taken from 56-year-old Lauraine Walker’s home on Poplars Avenue before being fly-tipped at the Capesthorne Road site.
On Wednesday, August 28, she was found guilty of an offence under the Environmental Act 1995.
Walker was fined £100 by magistrates and told to pay a victim surcharge of £30.
Warrington Borough Council’s executive board member for environment and public protection Cllr Judith Guthrie said: “We are glad this has resulted in another successful conviction.
“It’s unacceptable to think that fly-tipping or disposing of waste illegally is someone else’s problem.
“We all have a duty to dispose of our waste correctly and I would urge all residents to be vigilant, report any instances of fly-tipping and assist in our enquiries, so that we can continue our crackdown.”
