ANOTHER famous face tried and failed to beat the Wire Flyer over 200 metres on Friday evening.
Having already seen off challenges from ex-Salford owner Dr Marwan Koukash and former New Zealand international Robbie Hunter-Paul, the infamous man in green was challenged by a well-known face from the world of football.
Former England captain and self-confessed Warrington Wolves fan Stuart Pearce stepped up to the plate, and things started to go wrong early.
Tasked with scoring a penalty to earn himself a head start, Pearce missed with two attempts before scoring a rebound with the third.
However, despite a stumble, the Wire Flyer prevailed in the race.
