The family of Malcolm Brookes have paid tribute to the "kind, thoughtful and loving man".

The body of the 70-year-old was found in the river after he was reported missing from his home in Llanidloes.

His family said: "Malcolm David Brookes was a loving father and doting grandfather.

"He was a kind, thoughtful and loving man who was adored by his family.”

Mr Brookes was born in Smethwick, Birmingham, in 1949 and had lived in St Harmon, near Rhayader, for three years before moving to Llanidloes in March.

He went missing on Monday, August 19, and was last seen walking in Llanidloes town centre.

Mr Brookes' family had put out an appeal expressing concern for his welfare.

On Thursday, August 23, Dyfed-Powys Police revealed a body had been found in the search for the 70-year-old.
