A road was closed for several hours after a trailer containing straw bales tipped over and was left hanging over a 40-foot drop.

The A488 road between Knighton and Monaughty was closed in both directions for more than eight hours on Thursday, August 22, while emergency services dealt with the incident.

Police in Radnorshire advised motorists travelling in the area to find an alternative
routes.

A Dyfed-Powys Police spokeswoman said: “Police were called to the A488 between Knighton and Monaughty at around 1.35pm on Thursday, August 22.

“A trailer containing 36 straw bales, which was attached to a tractor had tipped over and was hanging over a 40ft drop.” 

The road reopened by 10pm after the trailer was recovered.
