COPS hunting a gang who carried out a violent robbery in a Castlemilk home have found their getaway car and arrested a man.

The force confirmed that a 19-year-old had been arrested in connection with the incident. He is not yet been charged.

Forensic officers are now examining the silver-coloured Volkswagen Polo vehicle in a bid to catch the four men responsible for the horrific home robbery.

We previously reported that the gang forced their way into the home in Barlia Drive at around 1.30am this morning

The entire family within, including a 29-year-old man, a 34-year-old woman and two children aged 17 and 10, were threatened with violence.

The men snatched several puppies, eight in total, the puppies are just three weeks old. It is believed the pooches are valued at £1,000 each and could die without their mum.

The men also smashed up the house and vandalised a Mercedes car parked outside the property.

No-one was injured in the incident but the family has been left extremely distressed by the level of violence and the theft of the young Bulldog Cross puppies.

Police say the hooded gang, who are between 18 and 20, with slim build and wearing dark coloured tracksuits, were carrying bladed weapons. The family previously claimed on social media they had hammers and machetes.

They arrived in Barlia Drive in two cars.  A silver coloured VW Polo and a silver coloured Audi.  The Audi made off after the incident.
