A MAN from Tranmere has been arrested and charged with theft offences following recent incidents in Birkenhead.

At around 5pm last Tuesday 13 August, a man entered JD Sports in Grange Road and removed a top from a display, making no attempt to pay.

At 10.20pm on Monday (August 19), a man in his 60s withdrew money from an ATM on Argyle Street.

As he was walking away, a man ran past and snatched his wallet containing the cash.

Following CCTV enquiries, a 46-year-old man was detained at his home address and arrested.

Robert Plant has now been charged with theft from a shop; and theft from a person.

He has been kept in custody to appear this morning at Wirral Magistrates Court.
