PENKETH Scarecrow Fest is celebrating its second year entertaining the community and organisers hope this year will be even bigger and better.

Last year, 35 scarecrows were entered in the festival and more than 80 people attended the awards ceremony.

The festival will take place from Sunday, September 22 but entries need to be submitted by Saturday, September 14.

Trail maps will be sold for £1 with proceeds going to the Forget Me Not Dementia Cafe.

To kickstart the festival, Friends of Penketh Library are hosting a scarecrow-themed event on Saturday, September 21.

Between 10.30am and 12.30pm, families can attend the free activity morning including crafts, colouring, biscuit decorating and a children's scarecrow dressing up competition.

There will be a prize for the best preschool-aged and under child and a prize for school-aged child.

Judging will take place at 12pm in the library.
