A DAD who spotted these drug needles in a disabled toilet at a McDonald’s restaurant has fired a warning to other parents to take care.

The customer who visited the McDonald’s on Church Street in the town centre in the early afternoon of Friday (August 16) went to the disabled toilet with his three-year-old child.

The customer, called Liam, saw the needles, which had been placed where the sink trap had been removed.

Liam says it appears the users had removed the sink trap and put it in the nappy bin and then placed the needles there.

“It’s not only the fact that they used it, then they go to the expense to remove the sink trap and put the needles in an elastic band," he said.

“I couldn’t praise the staff enough, to be fair. As soon as I notified them, they did close the disabled toilet and removed them, they shouldn’t have to be dealing with that.

“I said I’m disgusted you have to experience that.

“A bit later I nipped back and the member of staff said they notified head office and the police.

“My criticism is for to the person who has done this and to give a warning to parents and where they’re going, especially in public.”

A McDonald’s spokesperson: said: “The safety and security of our people and customers is our absolute priority.

"As soon as this was brought to the attention of the restaurant team, the manager carefully disposed of the items in the appropriate manner.

"The police were informed and the restaurant assisted them with their enquiries.”

McDonald's says it restaurant toilets are checked and cleaned regularly.
