CHILDREN attending St Elphin’s Park summer scheme were visited by LiveWire librarians, who delivered a story-time and craft session.

The book-based visits allow the youngsters to take part in the Summer Reading Challenge as any book read at the sessions will count towards the annual challenge, which aims to keep children reading during the summer holidays.

Last week’s activities included Harry Potter sorting hat crafts for the older children and a story-time session of the classic Funnybones by Allan Ahlberg for the under-sevens.

The scheme, which is run by the volunteers of Friends of St Elphin’s Park, was also visited by Cllr Tony Higgins (LAB – Fairfield and Howley) as well as Cllr Jean Flaherty who is also a volunteer for the Friends of St Elphin’s Park.

Future weeks will see other Harry Potter-themed activities including a quiz and treasure hunt.

LiveWire’s library team will be visiting every Wednesday in August between 1pm and 2pm.
