A ‘MAGICAL unicorn day’ in the town centre has been postponed due to adverse weather conditions.

The was set to take place outside Warrington Market on Saturday, August 10.

But wet weather is forecast over the weekend, and organisers have taken the decision to postpone the event – which will now take place at 10am on Thursday, August 15.

Strong winds of up to 38mph and heavy rainfall is predicted by the Met Office, which has issued a yellow weather warning.

Warrington Market operations manager Paul Blaney said: "It’s disappointing to have to postpone the event at this late stage.

"However, due to the weather forecast we are not prepared to put the public or our traders at risk.

"We would like to apologise to shoppers and their children who were looking forward to the event this weekend, but their safety is always our primary concern.

"The magical unicorns will instead visit us next week, and we hope everyone can still join us then."
