A CHARITY is celebrating 20 years helping families in Warrington by hosting a garden party.

The event will be a huge thank you to those who have supported Home-Start Warrington since it formed in 1999.

Home-Start Warrington helps parents to build a better future for children under five by providing support to families in need.

It recruits and trains volunteers who then make visits to the family home for three hours per week.

In those 20 years, the charity has helped more than 1,500 families and 3,700 children, thanks to the help of 272 volunteers.

And the 2014 Warrington Guardian Charity of the Year said it wanted to give something back to everyone involved in the organisation since they started.

“As it’s our 20th anniversary this year, we wanted to hold an extra special garden party for all of our families, volunteers and supporters,” said Kate Griffiths, scheme manager at Home-Start Warrington.

“It is the biggest event we’ve held during our existence and even Wolfie is coming along to celebrate with us.

“Hopefully we’ll be around for another 20 years as there is definitely a need for us in Warrington, but we are really looking forward to seeing all the people who we have helped and have helped us over the years.”

The focus of the garden party will be for the children to have fun, there will be plenty of games and activities on offer to create happy memories for the future.
