Watford are still favourites to sign Ismaila Sarr from Rennes, despite reports of a bid from Leicester City.

The Senegalese winger is expected to leave the French side before the transfer window closes on Thursday and over the weekend senior officials in France said they believed a deal would be done with the Hornets in the coming days.

This afternoon, reports from France suggest a fee has finally been agreed, with Gino Pozzo reported to have met Olivier Letang, Rennes president, in Rome to complete the terms.

They followed reports of a bid from Leicester which has since been played down.

Sources close to Rennes could not confirm that a deal is now in place, but said Watford remained favourites to sign the player and that they still expected the transfer to happen.

The 21-year-old is understood to be back in Rennes with the team following his participation in the African Cup of Nations.
