HUNDREDS of pounds were taken from a pensioner’s bank account after her debit cards were stolen in a supermarket.
A 73-year-old woman was targeted during the distraction theft at Sainsbury’s in Chapelford at around 11am on Wednesday, July 23.
Her bank cards were taken by the thieves and within minutes around £700 had been taken from her account – with the victim only being made aware of what had happened after receiving a call from her bank alerting her of fraudulent transactions.
A Cheshire Police spokesman said: “At approximately 11am on Wednesday, July 23, a 73-year-old local woman had her bank cards stolen during a distraction theft at Sainsbury's in Chapelford.

“The victim only became aware of the theft when she received a call from her bank to say that her cards had been used fraudulently.”
