GLYNNE Edwards, former head teacher of Aireville Terrace Primary School in Burley-in- Wharfedale, has become President of Ilkley Rotary Club.
Glynne Edwards was born in Palestine, spending his childhood in Gaza and Haifa. In 1948 the family returned to the UK and settled in Birmingham. He attended King Edwards’ Grammar School, then began working at Cadbury’s. Four years later Glynne went to Coventry to train to be a teacher and started teaching in 1963. He retired in 2000.
Glynne and his wife Yvonne are long standing caravanners, travelling a lot in Europe and that is where they will be celebrating their 56th wedding anniversary. They have two daughters. Glynne is proud of being a Rotarian and being a part of the incredible work it does at local and international levels.
