THE best and worst GP surgeries in Northwich, Winsford and Middlewich have been revealed.

This year’s GP Patient Survey results have been released, with every practice in England ranked against each other for patient satisfaction.

Launceston Close Surgery and Weaver Vale Surgery, both in Winsford, are the joint best surgeries in mid Cheshire – with an impressive 96 per cent of patients rating their overall experience of the practice as good.

A further eight surgeries in Northwich, Winsford and Middlewich were rated above the national average of 83 per cent satisfaction.

Meanwhile, the Weaverham Surgery is ranked as mid Cheshire’s worst practice, with just 67 per cent of patients rating their overall experience as good – falling four per cent below Middlewich Road Surgery in Northwich, which is the second-worst practice at 71 per cent.

Oaklands Medical Centre was voted third-best in mid Cheshire and the preferred option for patients in Middlewich, with Waters Edge Medical Centre falling below the national average with 75 per cent.

The GP Patient Survey is carried out by Ipsos MORI on behalf of NHS England, and evaluates each GP practice on patients’ experience of making appointments, waiting times, perceptions of care at appointments, practice opening hours, and out-of-hours services.

A total of 3,659 patients responded to the survey in the NHS Vale Royal CCG area, which includes Northwich and Winsford, while 4,499 surveys were returned in the NHS South Cheshire CCG area, which includes Middlewich, alongside Crewe, Nantwich and Sandbach.

The full list of surgeries in Northwich, Winsford and Middlewich, and the percentage of patients who rated them as ‘good’ are below.

  • The Weaver Vale Surgery, Winsford – 96 per cent
  • Oaklands, Middlewich – 93 per cent
  • Witton Street Surgery, Northwich – 90 per cent
  • Willow Wood Surgery, Wharton – 89 per cent
  • Swanlow Medical Centre, Winsford – 89 per cent
  • Oakwood Medical Centre, Barnton – 87 per cent
  • High Street Practice, Winsford – 86 per cent
  • Watling Street Surgery, Northwich – 85 per cent
  • Firdale Medical Centre, Northwich – 84 per cent

The following GP practices were ranked below the national average:

  • Danebridge Medical Centre, Northwich – 77 per cent
  • Waters Edge, Middlewich –75 per cent
  • Middlewich Road Surgery, Northwich – 71 per cent
  • The Weaverham Surgery – 67 per cent
