A MUM-of-three is launching classes in Grappenhall and Lymm to give toddlers a head start before attending primary school.

Sounds Right Phonics Classes, which help children develop an early interest in ready and writing, will begin in September.

Gilly Liput, 39, is launching the class, after it was originally established in 2016, as a way to work flexible hours and spend more time with her children.

Gilly, who lives in Lymm, said: "I think Sounds Right Phonics Classes for kids are a brilliant way to introduce letters and sounds to children and help prepare them for school.

"I am so excited to be bringing these classes to south Warrington, and can’t wait to get started."

The classes, which are suitable for ages one to four, introduce a different letter sound each week as well as working on motor skills which are essential for reading and writing and opening children up to a world of literacy.

Alex Burnside, an ex-primary school teacher who wrote the syllabus, said: "I saw a gap in the children’s knowledge as they came up to reception and thought it would be great to have a high energy, fun class that also taught early phonics.

"The main focus of the class is fun, but there is also a reason behind why we do each exercise."

Charlie Day, co-founder of Sounds Right Phonics Classes for Kids, said: "Gilly is extremely hard working and I know that her classes will do extremely well.

"We are ecstatic to have her onboard our Sounds Right Phonics team."
