AN OSWESTRY tennis club is set to launch a coaching programme for the summer later this month.

Starting on Monday, July 29, Oswestry Team Tennis (OTT) will be launching its Summer Coaching Programme for children during the school holidays.

The training is designed to be fun and informative, focusing on different aspects of the sport including technique and tactics.

Sessions will be available for children aged four to nine from 4pm to 5pm at Cae Glas Park, with training between 5pm and 6pm for 10 to 16-year olds at the same location.

Lawn Tennis Association (LTA) qualified coach Ben Syrett-Judd said: “These sessions are ideal if you are looking for something for your kids to do over the summer holidays.

“It is a great way to get your kids out and active.

“With Wimbledon been and gone, this is a great time to pick up a racket and start playing Tennis”

Sessions cost £5 per hour, while a block of five sessions can be booked upfront for £20.

Ben will be joined by fellow LTA qualified coach Blake Strefford to provide the coaching.

On top of that, OTT will be hosting tennis camps throughout the summer.

The camps are aimed at children between the ages of eight and 16 in a bid to get more children active during the holidays.

The two camps take place between Monday, August 19 and Wednesday, August 21, and between Tuesday, August 27 and Thursday, August 29.

They run from 9am to 12.30pm each day at a price of £12.50 per child per day.

Anyone wishing to take part on each of the three days of the camp can do so at a price of £31.50 per child.

Rackets are provided if needed and booking forms are to be completed on the day – children are advised to bring plenty of water and suitable clothing for the weather.
