TESCO customers are invited to put on their dancing shoes and bust some moves as part of a nationwide fundraiser.

Heswall and Bidston Moss stores will be hosting the Dance Beats event from 6am on Friday, July 19 to raise cash for Cancer Research UK, the British Heart Foundation and Diabetes UK.

Both stores will be asking customers to get involved in ballet, modern, tap, jazz, belly, or contemporary dancing as part of the UK-wide fundraiser.

The nationwide event will culminate in a 30-hour Guinness World Records attempt for the world's longest dance marathon relay at Wembley stadium.

Tesco chief executive Dave Lewis said: “Cancer, heart and circulatory diseases and diabetes touch almost every family in the UK, which is why in our centenary year we’re launching Dance Beats to support the important work of our three health charity partners.

"Our colleagues and customers continuously go to amazing lengths to raise millions for charity and we hope Dance Beats will be a great way to fundraise and have some fun through dancing.”

If you can't take part in the dancing fundraiser in store then you can take part in other ways.

Customers can upload a video of themselves performing the Dance Beats move - the 'Pump and Slide' online and send it to Tesco via social media and for every upload, Tesco will donate £10 to the Dance Beats campaign.

Otherwise, you can download the Dance Beats fundraising guide and create your own community dance event.

There is also the option to text DANCE to 70507 to give £5.
