FROM live music to beer festivals and playgrouns to walking days, there is plenty going on in Warrington this weekend.

And the good news is with schools about the break up, two of the events will be open throughout the summer holidays.

Here is our pick of this weekend's highlights.

 

JOOLS HOLLAND AND HIS RHYTHM AND BLUES ORCHESTRA > SATURDAY

Warrington Guardian: Jools Holland

The BBC2 favourite will be performaing an outdoor concert at Walton Hall and Gardens on Saturday, gates 6pm 

With special guests Pauline Black and Arthur ‘Gaps’ Hendrickson from The Selecter, together with guest vocalists Ruby Turner and Louise Marshall and support from Jack Lukeman

WARRINGTON WOLVES FIFTH ANNUAL BEER FESTIVAL > FRIDAY AND SATURDAY

Warrington Guardian:

The event for real ale lovers will raise funds for Warrington Wolves Charitable Foundation

The South Stand of The Halliwell Jones Stadium will temporarily be turned into a bar with fans being able to sample some of the finest local ales and ciders with gin, prosecco and soft drinks also available in the Jack Fish Corner.

Wire legends will be in attendance sharing stories and celebrating the rich heritage of the club.

There will also be live music, food and plenty of entertainment on both nights.

STRETTON WALKING DAY > SATURDAY

Warrington Guardian: Stretton Walking Day & St Matthews Summer Fair
St Matthew’s Church and St Matthew’s CE Primary School are joining forces  for the annual event.

It will begin at 10am with a service at the church to crown the Rose Queen followed by the Walk of Witness at 12pm, led by Warrington Pipe Band.

A fun fair will be open to entertain guests at St Matthew’s primary from 1pm where there will also be a bar, barbecue, rides, games, raffle and RAF Hurricane flypast. 

BEACH AT BANK PARK > FROM SATURDAY

Warrington Guardian:

The Beach at Bank Park will open on Saturday and then families can be beside the ‘seaside’ every day between 1pm and 5pm until September 1.

Emmerdale star Jacob Gallagher will be making a special guest appearance at the openin with children's favourite 'lookalike' characters also appearing throughout the school holidays.

SPACE PLAYGROUND AT GOLDEN SQUARE > FROM SATURDAY

Warrington Guardian:

The shopping centre is launching a space-themed playground on Saturday as part of the 50th anniversary of the Moon landing celebrations.

The Summer of Space play park in the Old Fish Market will feature a giant slide, tower, tunnel and rickety bridge as well as a dedicated area for children under four. It will be open until September 1.

SCI-FI MARKET > SATURDAY

Warrington Guardian: The hauntingly beautiful pictures of the Apollo moon landings will be featured in the performance of Brian Eno’s album Apollo: For All Mankind.

Head to Warrington Market for a variety of events marking the 50th anniversary of the Apollo Space Landings.

Warrington Market is also bringing together its Comic Con contacts for a variety of stalls selling sci-fi, comic, TV and film merchandise, collectables and memorabilia.
