IT is Wimbledon finals weekend and the British Grand Prix.

But there is plenty going on in Warrington this weekend to keep you entertained.

Plus the weather is set fair for a beautiful summer weekend.

Here is our pick of the best events to try for you and your family.

PENKETH CARNIVAL > SATURDAY

Warrington Guardian: Penketh Carnival 2018  30t warr cubs.

Go around the world without ever leaving Penketh.

The event starts at 11.30am with a parade from Penketh High to Greystone Rec when the carnival will open at 12pm.

Check out more than 70 stalls, a variety of entertainment and food and drink including a wood-fired pizza oven and drinks bus.

Best of all, entry is free

STOCKTON HEATH WALKING DAY > SATURDAY

Warrington Guardian: Crowds gather for Stockton Heath Walking Day

A colourful affair is promised at the biggest event of the year in Stockton Heath.

The day starts with a short service at 2pm at Alexandra Park followed by the walk through the streets.

Expect some road closures and a colourful spectacle.

There will be fairs and celebrations at many of the churches and schools afterward.

Looking out for the circus at St Thomas' Primary School.

OPEN GARDEN > Victoria Park > SATURDAY

Warrington Guardian:

New Routes garden project, based at Victoria Park and run by charity MacIntyre Learning, was approved as an official member of the National Open Garden Scheme, joining just 3,500 special gardens around the country.

And the project is celebrating its success by hosting an open day on Saturday, inviting people to come and see their premises first hand.

The ‘secret garden’ has been based at Victoria Park for 15 years, and boasts a scenic two-and-a-half acre orchard with more than 50 trees and a range of wildlife and flowers.

The area also features a cafe, a learning centre and a polytunnel, providing those who work there with resources to both relax and develop their gardening skills.

Admission is £4 for adults and children go free.

CULCHETH OPEN GARDENS > SATURDAY AND SUNDAY

Warrington Guardian:

THE most impressive gardens in Culcheth will be revealing their secrets to the public in aid of St Rocco's Hospice and Culcheth Methodist Church. 

Usually kept behind closed gates and fences, 10 households in the village will allow residents and visitors to explore their gardens for the Culcheth Open Gardens event on Saturday and Sunday.

The event begins at 1pm on July 13 and tickets are £5 in advance when purchased from Poyntons Florist in Lodge Drive and £6 if bought on the day.
Children under 16 can enter for free.

YOUNG TRADERS MARKET > WARRINGTON TOWN CENTRE > SATURDAY

Warrington Guardian:

A POP-UP event offering a glimpse of what the next generation of entrepreneurs could offer is coming to Warrington.

Warrington Market is hosting a Young Traders’ Market on Saturday where everyone from artists to street food specialists, aged between 16 and 30, will be demonstrating their talents in Time Square.

There will also be live music throughout the day curated by Lee Harman, of Warrington Music [WAM].

CHESHIRE STEAM FAIR > DARESBURY > SATURDAY AND SUNDAY

Warrington Guardian:

ONE of the north west’s largest steam and vintage events returns to Daresbury at the weekend.

The owners of more than 60 historic traction engines – 40 full-sized and 24 miniature – are travelling from all over the UK for Outdoor Shows’ annual Cheshire Steam Fair.

There will also be hundreds of vintage cars, lorries and buses, classic motorcycles, military vehicles and vintage tractors at the family day out just off Chester Road.

They will all be exhibited for enthusiasts to see on the field before taking part in an arena parade.

The arena will be the focal point for events throughout the day with a full programme on Saturday and Sunday between 11am and 5pm.

DISABILITY AWARENESS DAY > WALTON GARDENS > SUNDAY

Warrington Guardian: Disability Awareness Day marks 21st event with Olympic glow

The biggest free event of its kind in Europe.

Around 500 exhibitors are expected at Walton Gardens for DAD 28, which takes place between 10am and 5pm this Sunday.

A variety of stalls, performances and exhibits can be enjoyed.
