A DAD who donated a kidney to his daughter is helping to thank the hospital that saved her life.

Kevin Burgess, HR manager at Fox Group in Daresbury, was thrilled when he found out the beauty and aesthetics company he works for was announcing Alder Hey Children's Kidney Fund as one of its charities of the year.

Kevin's 14-year-old daughter, Grace, was diagnosed with cystinosis aged two and underwent a life-changing kidney transplant in 2016.

She still receives nightly medication and fundraises for the hospital herself.

Kevin said: "Both Grace and I are incredibly excited for Alder Hey Children’s Kidney Fund to be chosen as one of Fox Group’s charities of the year.

"Grace has an incredibly positive outlook on life, has never complained about her condition and I believe she’s a real asset to our family.

"We are extremely passionate about raising funds for a portable dialysis machine due to the difference this would make for families who have received the same diagnosis."

Grace added: "To see Alder Hey Children’s Kidney Fund receiving funding is great.

"I want to help people like me through their experience at Alder Hey and, with the help of Fox Group’s fundraising, this will make a huge difference to lives.

"In the future, I hope to become an ambassador for Alder Hey’s Kidney Fund one day!"
