A MAN fighting cancer for a second time is hosting a charity event in Warrington to support the nurses and NHS that are helping him.

Eddie Hill, from Newton-le-Willows, has recently finished chemotherapy for the second time within 18 months.

And although he has had to suffer from the gruelling treatment during this time, the 47-year-old wanted to give something back to the ‘fantastic’ people who have supported him along the way.

“Being told you have cancer is life changing, and to go through gruelling chemotherapy again has just been destroying to the mind and body,” he said.

“Fortunately for me, the Clatterbridge chemotherapy nurses at the Royal Liverpool University Hospital really changed that.

“Their fantastic support and determination throughout my treatment has been great and it has really helped me get through it.”

To support the nurses and The Blood Appeal, Eddie has organised a Greatest Show Charity Gala to be held at Cinnamon Brow Farm in August.

He held a similar fundraiser in 2018 and was able to raise a huge amount thanks to generous contributions from local organisations, and he is hoping for more of the same this year.

“I have always wanted to make a difference within our community and with the individuals in it, so I work closely alongside The Blood Appeal to raise awareness and much needed funds,” he continued.

“With the changes that have happened in my life this past year, I wanted to give something back and make a few moments special for the nurses who helped me through my treatment.

“We held a similar event last year and were able to raise over £2,000 for charity, so I wanted to do it all over again this year to show my appreciation for still being here and to share my story.”

The Greatest Show Charity Gala will be held on Friday, August 16 at Cinnamon Brow Farm.

It promises to be a night of entertainment, fun and laughter with a great live artist, charity auction and a grand prize draw.

A traditional pie and peas supper for adults will also be available and hotdogs for children.

All proceeds will go to the nurses at Clatterbridge Chemotherapy Ward 7Y at The Royal Liverpool Hospital and The Bloom Appeal.

Any form of support is greatly appreciated and if you can help, including donating raffle prizes, please contact Eddie at eddiehill2012@hotmail.co.uk or on 07900281533.

Tickets have no fixed price, just a donation at the door, so that it is affordable for everyone and as much can be raised as possible.
