THE timber frame for a replica Anglo Saxon barn will be raised into place next weekend.
Volunteers building the House of Wessex reconstruction in Long Wittenham are inviting the public to the site for an open weekend on July 6 and 7.
People will be able to see the frame for the building hoisted into place using ropes and pulleys.
A specialist thatcher will also provide demonstrations of traditional thatching skills, and there will be an opportunity to make bread from the old wheat varieties.
