MORE than 100 rugby league players with learning disabilities have taken part in a festival of sport at Victoria Park.
Warrington Wolves hosted the rugby league festival as part of the Community Integrated Care Learning Disability Super League on Saturday, June 22.
A total of 12 teams including the Wire took part, alongside the likes of Wigan, Widnes, St Helens, Leeds and Hull Kingston Rovers.
Mark Adams, chief executive of Community Integrated Care, said: “Once again the Community Integrated Care Learning Disability Super League has provided an unforgettable weekend for more than 100 people with learning disabilities, promoting inclusion in sports and developing invaluable life skills for the participants.
“The growth in this initiative so far has been incredible.
“I’d like to say a huge thank you to everyone in the rugby league family for their support of the programme, it really has been overwhelming.”
Sarah Pickford, sustainable clubs and foundations manager at the RFL, added: “The Community Integrated Care Learning Disability Super League is one of the fastest growing areas of the game, and it has engaged a wide range of people from many different clubs across the country.
“We’re absolutely delighted at its progress, and we have a real opportunity here to build upon its growth to the Rugby League World Cup 2021.”
