A MAN has suffered serious injuries after being attacked by a stranger in Warrington Bus Interchange.

The 31-year-old victim was waiting for a bus in the station at around 11am yesterday, Sunday, when he was approached by an unknown man.

This stranger then punched him to the face – knocking him to the floor and breaking his jaw – before fleeing in the direction of the escalators leading to Golden Square Shopping Centre.

He is described as being white, bald, around 6ft1, with a stocky build and was wearing a white t-shirt with coloured shorts and tattoos on his arm.

Detective constable David Wynne said: “This was a serious assault and we are committed to doing all that we can to trace the man responsible and bring him to justice.

“The victim sustained a serious injury as a result of the attack and he is currently recovering in hospital.

“Enquiries in relation to the assault are ongoing and at this stage it appears to be an isolated incident.

“I am aware that there were a number of people at the bus station at the time the assault took place and I urge to them to come forward and report any information which may assist our investigation.

“I also appeal to anyone who recognises the description of the offender and believes that they may know who he is to get in touch.”
