POLICE are appealing for support after a crash which left a woman in hospital.

The injured woman, who is in her 40s, was involved in a collision with a grey Hyundai i30 hatchback, in Chorley Road on Sunday.

The severity of the crash caused police to close the road for some time, just after 3pm, and an air ambulance was called to the scene.

Now, officers are searching for further information and calling for help from members of the public who might have seen the crash or caught the incident on camera.

PC Mark Ratcliffe of GMP’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit said: “This incident could easily have proved much more serious. Our thoughts remain with the motorcyclist as she continues her recovery in hospital.

“Were you in the area at the time and did you witness the collision?

“Perhaps you saw either vehicle shortly before the incident or have dashcam footage that can assist our investigation?

“If so, please get in touch as soon as possible.”

The crash is thought to have happened as the Hyundai was turning right out of Grimeford Lane onto Chorley Road.

Following the incident, the woman was rushed to hospital with serious injuries but police have since confirmed that her wounds are not life threatening.
