WORKMEN are carrying out emergency repairs on the M6 this morning after ‘extensive damage’ was caused to the central reservation of the motorway.

One lane of the northbound carriageway is shut between junction 20 for Lymm and junction 21 for Woolston, on the approach to the Thelwall Viaduct.

The closure has been implemented for safety reasons, due to ‘extensive barrier damage’.

Warrington Guardian:

Emergency repairs are currently being carried out, although it is not yet clear what has caused the damage.

But traffic is reportedly coping well despite the lane being shut.
