A DEFIBRILLATOR has been installed outside the Hood Manor Community Centre at Dorchester Road shops to give members of the community access to the potentially life-saving device.

The wall-mounted defibrillator can be used by members of the public at any time to aid someone in cardiac arrest.

After phoning 999 an ambulance operator will give a code to open the box where the defibrillator is housed and also instruct people without experience on how to use it safely and effectively.

Katey Lyton, who led the proposal for a defibrillator said: “I’m delighted that Great Sankey Parish Council was able to provide this valuable equipment which will benefit the community.

"I am also grateful that councillors Amanda King and Peter Watson are going to seek help to re-establish a resident’s association, which will hopefully be successful and provide greater unity for our neighbourhood.”

A CPR and defibrillation training course has been arranged for any community member who wishes to attend on Saturday, July 20 from 12pm until 1.30pm at Hood Manor Community Centre.

To book your place either email the parish council on enquiries@gs-pc.net or telephone 712279.

A public meeting regarding the association will be organised by the parish council for early September.
