A LINEN shop based at the Cockhedge Centre has closed after the company went out of business.

Linen Warehouse, which sold towels, bedding and curtains, was one of 19 stores to close across the north.

Its owners, Towel Rail Limited, confirmed it was placed into administration on Friday.

Trading ceased immediately with the loss of more than 130 jobs.

The firm also traded as Yorkshire Linen Company.

Administrator BDO said the closure was down to challenges on the high street.

Graham Newton, from BDO, said it was working to support the company's creditors and employees.

"Extremely unpredictable market conditions, coupled with the well documented challenges facing high street retailers have had a significant negative impact on trading in recent months," he said.
