GRAPPENHALL Heys primary school is trying to raise more than £2,800 to provide children with special computers for their new library.

Stephanie Yau, a year two teacher at the school, is hoping to secure enough funds to enhance the pupils library experience.

She said: "We launched a new library but we did say that it is just the start of our library journey.

"There are five empty spaces for five desktop computers.

"We don't have the money to just buy them and I came across this website called Rocket Fund."

The website is a crowdfunding platform for schools in the UK which allows them to create a profile explaining their cause.

Grappenhall Heys' £2,868 target will provide five computers installed with Junior Librarian whereby pupils can search for age-appropriate books, write book reviews and check books out of the library electronically.

The children have been involved in the entire fundraising process, even creating a video explaining their new library.

Stephanie said: "The children helped us develop the library with their ideas and the school council got together and asked their class mates what they thought.

"They have been involved in every step and that's what we wanted.

"At the moment the money is just for the computers but if we get over our target we would like to buy some extra books.

"It will just enhance the children's experience."

The primary school have set a deadline of July 8 to raise the necessary funds and there are even some added incentives for potential donors.

If someone donates £10 or more they will receive a thank you message from the teacher.

Donating more than £25 will mean a personalised thank you message from the children and for donating more than £50 they will get public recognition on the school website.
