RAIL passengers in Great Sankey have been given an unusual update on the opening hours of the station's ticket office.

A sign has been place by the ticket office posting future opening hours by Sankey for Penketh station operators Northern.

It says the ticket office opening hours are 'changing'

However for every day of the week, it says the opening hours will be 'closed'.

Warrington Guardian:

A second sign posted next to it says the ticket office will be permanently closed at the end of August.

By that time, the new Warrington West station will be open in Chapelford.

It will leave just four trains a day stopping at Sankey, two in the morning and two in the evening.

“Later this year we will begin operating trains from the new Warrington West station, providing excellent links to Liverpool and Manchester and giving customers significantly improved parking.

“The new station means we are reviewing the function of Sankey for Penketh and the signs displayed were part of a consultation process earlier this year.

“We are currently working through all feedback and will announce our plans for Sankey in the near future.”
