LYMM High School's May ball has raised an impressive £5,000 thanks to generous raffle and auction donations.

More than 110 parents and friends of the Oughtrington Lane school attended the event at the Hallmark Hotel for a three-course meal and an evening of entertainment.

Alongside a magician, quiz and DJ Paul Slater was a raffle and auction with prizes donated by individuals and companies in and around Lymm.

The raffle itself raised about £700 but the auction surpassed all expectations by bringing in more than £3,000.

Manchester City’s win in the FA Cup helped the signed shirt to secure a bid of £500.

Other notable big-ticket items included a five-day stay at La Manga donated by The Wine Kitchen, a two-night golf package donated by Golf Breaks, and a luxurious evening at Peckforton Castle.

The ball was organised to help the school hit its fundraising target for the Pitch In fund.

This means they could qualify for potential FA investment into new 3G community pitches in Lymm.

Commenting on the night, head teacher, Gwyn Williams, said: "The food, decorations and music were all excellent.

"All in all, I’d say it was a great success – and that’s even before considering that we raised a good amount of money too!"

Lymm High School PTA have thanked the Hallmark Hotel, the individuals and companies who donated prizes and the attendees.
