PROPOSALS to install large illuminated signs for online retail giant Amazon at its upcoming warehouse at the Florida Farm site in Haydock were deferred yesterday, Tuesday.
St Helens Council's planning committee unanimously agreed to delay making a decision on an application to display bright advertising signs at the M6 Major development.
Manager of development at the council, Melanie Hale, said officers are in talks with the applicant over the move.
She said "We’ve had representations that would result effectively in officers going back to the applicant to discuss the size of the signs, particularly located on the south west elevation of the site.
"And so it might be that you want to consider that the matter be deferred from this meeting to the next."

Amazon are set to move into the warehouse
Blackbrook councillor Linda Maloney MBE was first to agree with Ms Hale's recommendation.
She said: "I’d like this to be deferred so that the applicant and officers can work on another alternative that is not so illuminating into the residential properties."
The deferral was seconded by Moss Bank councillor John Fulham.
He said: "I’d like to second it, and I’d also like to point out that although the application is hopefully going to be deferred, it is quite out of keeping and I think the applicant needs to reflect on that in any further subsequent discussions."
