WARRINGTON Wolves captain Chris Hill and Olympian Iwan Thomas are set to open a bathroom showroom near to the town centre.

The two sportsmen have teamed up in the world of business, having been introduced by a club sponsor.

Peter Kindness – ex-managing director of Birchwood-based Wedi UK, who runs bathroom products importer Run400 Distribution with 45-year-old Thomas – put the pair in touch.

And, together with Hill’s business partner Christian Froggatt, their ‘prestigious bathroom showroom offering affordable luxury products’ is set to open in July in a unit off School Brow.

Warrington Guardian:

Former European and Commonwealth Games champion Thomas, who picked up a silver medal in the 400m relay with Team GB at the 1996 Olympics in Atlanta, said: “Pete and myself have been friends for a long, long time – he kitted out my house and we remained friends.

“Over the years, we’ve talked about doing something together in business and then he told me about this opportunity – it made sense to get together.

“For me, I want to do something away from the world that I live in and its nice to have another interest away from TV and media work.

“We all get on really well, so I think it will be a good partnership.

“Hopefully I can bring something to the table and between the four of us we can make a success of it.

“I’m going to get stuck in, helping to do the decorating.”

Their showroom is the latest business endeavour for England international prop Hill in addition to his plumbing company Premier Plumbing.

The 31-year-old forward, who is now in his eighth season with the Wire, added: “For about two years, we’ve been looking for a place and waiting to make sure everything was right.

“Iwan is well-known throughout the country and he’s a really good bloke.

“I’ve still got a good few years left playing rugby yet, but I want to have something in place for afterwards – whether I stay in the game or not.

“It’s something for after rugby, but it’s something that takes my mind off it too.

“We’ve had a few headaches getting everything set up, but it’s well underway.”
