WARRINGTON Wolves star Danny Walker made the day of players from the club's learning disability team by leading their training session.

Training involved preparations before the side run out at Anfield this weekend for the launch of the Community Integrated Care Learning Disability Super League.

Players were taking part in their last session before the big event, which coincides with the first team facing Wigan at the same venue as part of the Dacia Magic Weekend.

And Walker, who is an ambassador for ground-breaking social inclusion programme, said he was more than happy to lend a hand.

The Warrington-born hooker also presented the team with their matchday shirts.

Warrington Guardian:

He said: "Leading training has been brilliant, and the team all made me feel very welcome when I turned up.

"It has put a big smile on my face seeing how much being presented with their shirts means to them.

"The initiative speaks for itself, and it is going to be a really special occasion for everyone involved and those who have worked so hard to get this initiative up and running."

Super League and the Rugby Football League have partnered with Community Integrated Care to create a pioneering inclusive sports programme for people with learning disabilities and autism.

Gaining significant national attention since its announcement in February and engaging hundreds of people in the sport, this world-first programme is a growing success.

With the teams playing during the half time intervals of Magic Weekend games, the event will provide one of the biggest ever crowds for a learning disability sport event.

Supporters will have the opportunity to watch the inspiring action first-hand on both days of the event, with Warrington Wolves’ Learning Disability team playing on Saturday.

A special festival will also take place in Stanley Park during the second game of each day, ensuring the players will be at the heart of the action.
