A NORTHWICH man is being treated in hospital following a serious assault in Victoria Road.

The 25-year-old victim was walking along the road, near to the Middlewich Road crossroads, between 8pm and 9pm on Friday, May 17, when he is believed to have been involved in an altercation.

He was subsequently assaulted and sustained serious head injuries.

He was taken to the Royal Stoke University Hospital, where he is currently receiving treatment for his injuries.

Enquiries in relation to the incident are ongoing and detectives are appealing for anyone who was in the area and witnessed what happened, or has any other information that may aid their investigation, to get in touch.

They also want to speak to anyone who believes they may have CCTV or dashcam footage of the incident or anyone involved in it.

DC Claire Heatley, of Northwich CID, said: “The victim sustained serious head injuries and has understandably been left extremely shaken up.

“Our investigation into the incident is currently in its early stages and we are working hard to establish exactly how the victim came to sustain his injuries.

“The incident took place at a busy junction. We are aware that there were a number of people in the area who may be able to assist with our investigation and I urge them to come forward.

“We would also like to hear from anyone who has CCTV or dashcam footage that may be relevant to our investigation.”

Anyone with information or CCTV footage that may help the ongoing investigation should call Cheshire Constabulary on 101, quoting IML 405951
