A FIRE at an electrical substation in Wincham has caused a power outage for up to 350 homes and businesses in the area.
Firefighters from Northwich and Lymm were sent to the scene in Chapel Street shortly after 8am this morning.
The crews first had to wait for Scottish Power to isolate the power to the substation before they could move, which happened after 9am.
Firefighters have now extinguished the fire, but are still on the scene working to dampen down the area.
A spokesman for Cheshire Fire Service said: “Fire crews have been called to deal with a fire at an electrical substation on Chapel Street, in Wincham.
“This has caused a power outage for 300-350 homes and businesses in the area. At this time we have not got a timeline on how long it will take to restore the power.”
