THE northbound exit slip road at junction 19 of the M6 will be closed for 'quite some time', say police, because of a HGV fire, which is still smouldering.
Drivers are asked to find a different route off the network.
The pictures of firefighters dealing with the incident were sent in by Peter Sharratt.
He said: "Fire officers were called at 4pm as an artic loaded with Shreddies cereal went up in flames."
Three fire engines attended from Powey Lane, Warrington and Greater Manchester.
A Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service spokesman said: "At around 4.10pm firefighters were called to reports of a vehicle fire on the exit slip road of the M6 junction 19.
"The fire involved a HGV trailer containing cereal which was well alight and causing a large plume of thick black smoke across the motorway.
"Two firefighters wearing breathing apparatus extinguished the fire. They then help with the removal of the cereal from the vehicle.
"A full closure was put in place on the slip road while the crews dealt with the incident."
