WHEN a family friend was diagnosed with cancer, one woman was determined to make her feel less alone.
Kim Banks, from Culcheth, has shaved her head, raising almost £3,000 for The Teenage Cancer Trust while helping her friend's daughter.
She explained: "My friends daughter has been diagnosed with Hodgkin lymphoma- she's only 18.
"She's lost her hair and I didn't want her to be on her own."
Kim braved the shave at The Village Club Culcheth with support from the community.
She said: "It's our local pub and it's always busy on a Sunday, there was about 150 people there.
"I had raised £1,900 but the day after it shot up to £2,800!
"My target was only £1,500 so I have doubled it."
Kim said that people are complimenting her new look and it even saves her time getting ready in the morning.
